the park is clean and maintain by municipality you will enjoy the place a beautiful, peaceful way to spend your time. a beautiful waterfall to observe and if you are lucky, you will see the resident black eagles.this time i found a complete outdoor gym, where you can exercise more than just by walking. pleasant outing for the family to have a picnic.young men with trolleys will transport your belongings to your preferred site. the kids playing area tends to be taken over by big family groups that leaves no place for “outsiders”. even if you are not an outdoors type of person, and don’t care for the magnificent verreux eagles soaring above or the stunning witpoortjie waterfalls inside the gardens, it is still worth it to pop around. have a picnic on the massive shady green lawns, take the kids on a walk in the gardens, dine at the very good restaurant in the grounds or take a nice long hike up to the viewpoint. we often go to the walter sisulu national botanical gardens for a lovely day with our 12-year old daughter, for large family gatherings, or for a mid-week escape as a couple.

once upon a time, little falls was to ‘doer and gone’ (local speak for ‘to hell and gone’) out in the country and you had to travel some way from the centre of johannesburg to reach it. and then little falls. little falls is still just off hendrik potgieter road en route to the walter sisulu national botanical garden, and must have been named after water (obviously!) of some description as many of the street names here fall into the water theme – rapids avenue, cascades road and waterval road a few examples.
